Phase 1: South Boulder Creek West

With thunderstorms in the forecast, S & D headed west on the relatively empty South Boulder Creek West trail. After a mile or so, the forecast became reality, as thunder echoed in the distance, and the rain began to fall, at which point our fearless adventurers turned around and headed back to the trailhead.

Phase 2: In Situ

As Phase 2 began, S and D retreated to the shelter of their respective tailgates, which turned out to be insufficient against the growing storm. So into the cars they went, there to process their separate sandwiches.

Phase 3: In Situ

And then, as quickly as it had arrived, it was gone. In its place, a rainbow in the dark clouds to the east.

Another successful BNO.

On the way home, I stopped at a a couple of roadside parking lots, where people gather these days to watch the sunset:
