Out on a Meadow

A quiet afternoon, no wind, a bit chilly, rather hazy. Some people walking up the Coalton Trail; bicyclists and joggers on the Meadowlark.

I thought I might take a short jaunt in the chilly weather up to the top of the first hill along the Meadowlark Trail. This usually takes about 20 minutes up, 20 minutes back.

Well as often happens, I got to the top of the hill and kept going. Maybe, I thought, just walk to the next curve. Just to the power line. Just to that rock over there.

I spotted a kestrel balancing on a yucca stalk. How can they balance like that? It puffed up its feathers and looked nonchalant.

Finally I reached the gate where the Meadowlark joins the Oerman-Roche. That was good. I clanged the gate with my trekking pole and turned around to head back.

Same joggers, same cyclists on the return trip. The sun a bit lower, feeling just as warm.
