Phase 1: Coalton Trail (the other half)

Tonight D invited special guest A, for a chilly trek along the “other half” of the Coalton Trail, from Highway 128 to the power-line corner (as opposed to the half from McCaslin to the corner). With the temperature dipping from 37°F, and a chilly breeze making it feel more like 25°F, not many folk were out on the trail this evening: some bicyclists making a hasty retreat, a meadowlark doing its best to be cheerful, and some cowpies hither and yon.

The title of this post (“Around We Go”) refers to the unofficial goal of circumnavigating the entire Dirty Bismark Trail, bit by bit. This is the fourth such bit this season.

Here is a (possibly incomplete) list of Dirty Bismark trail segments, proceeding clockwise from the Coalton trailhead:

  • [x] Coalton East/West
  • [x] Coalton North/South
  • [ ] High Plains
  • [ ] Greenbelt Plateau
  • [ ] Community Ditch
  • [ ] Marshall Mesa
  • [ ] Cowdrey Draw
  • [ ] Mayhoffer-Singletree
  • [x] Oerman Roche (overlaps Meadowlark)
  • [x] Meadowlark

Phase 2: Nope.

Phase 3: Maybe some other time.

Questions of the Night

  • What’s up with the dilapidated fence (shown above)?

  • Which came first, the power line maintenance road (aka, the Coalton Trail) or the power lines?

Not quite 10,000 steps.
